The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the first edition to feature 48 teams across 12 groups of 4. The top 2 teams from each group, plus the 8 best third-place finishers, advance to the Round of 32 — making 32 teams total in the knockout stage. Co-hosted by the United States (11 venues), Canada (2 venues), and Mexico (3 venues), it's the first World Cup spanning three nations simultaneously.
The group stage runs June 11–28, 2026. Last-round group matches (Matchday 3) are played simultaneously within each group to prevent tactical manipulation of results. The final takes place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on July 19, 2026.
